Building urban gardens and farm-to-school programming for Washington, DC schools and communities. Since 2008, City Blossoms has designed and developed hundreds of gardens and implemented farm-to-school programming for hundreds of schools throughout the Washington D.C. area and nationwide. Its target population is under-resourced Latino, Black, and immigrant children and youth.
Funding Request For:
The Community Service Grant helps expand the School Garden Partners (SGP) program, which incorporate garden-based education at two new DCPS schools: McKinley Tech High School and Kramer Middle School, both of which serve a high population of at-risk students. The grant covers both staffing and supply costs for the SGP program at these schools.
