WANADA | Community Service Grants | The Rotary Foundation of Washington DC

Providing a non-profit apprenticeship program that includes job-placement, mentorship and accredited classroom training for aspiring automotive technicians in Washington, DC. 90% of graduates are minorities, many from disadvantaged backgrounds. Apprentices earn a living wage by working at a franchised new car dealership while attending class on one of their days off.

 

Funding Request For:

Rotary Foundation of Washington, DC funds directly fund students’ “tool allowance,” through which students are able to purchase and own the tools they will use throughout their education and careers. Each student is provided a $500 tool allowance and sponsored discounts, without which many students would not be able to embark on this career path.
